Okefenokee Journal; Saturday, April 20, 2024 – The brightening sky and calls of the birds woke me in my tent. We spent our first night within the heart of the Okefenokee Swamp at the Maul Hammock Shelter. I engaged the first hour of the morning photographing the wild nature immediately around our camping platform before we began our paddle to the next shelter, Big Water. A beautiful patch of Southern Blue Flag Irises rose from the blackwater just behind the platform. Frogs swam around and under the platform. A family of at least four or five Green Herons crisscrossed the prairie several times.

Hi William.
Thank you for this nice story and pictures.
I find the Lord’s glory can be seen in the grandeur of the mountainss and waters, but also in the details of each beautiful flower and creature.
God Bless!
